Coventry Boss Criticized For Celebrating In Face Of Wolves Ball Boy

Coventry City manager Mark Robins faced criticism from Wolves boss Gary O'Neil for his actions following a stunning FA Cup quarter-final victory at Molineux.

The Championship side Coventry sealed a dramatic 3-2 win over Premier League’s Wolves with two late goals, securing a spot in the competition’s semi-finals for the first time since their 1987 triumph.

Robins, usually composed, displayed rare emotion by celebrating in front of a ball boy, who had dropped the ball moments before Coventry scored the decisive goal at the death.

In response to Robins’ actions, O’Neil expressed disappointment, noting the distress caused to the young ball boy, whom he described as upset by the incident.

Robins himself admitted to overreacting and offered an unreserved apology to the ball boy, attributing his actions to the heightened emotions of the FA Cup.

The thrilling quarter-final clash saw Coventry initially take the lead, only for Wolves to equalize and then score two late goals, seemingly securing their ticket to Wembley.

However, Coventry’s never-say-die attitude shone through as they staged an incredible comeback in stoppage time, with Haji Wright netting the winning goal to send the Sky Blues into the semi-finals.

Reflecting on the historic win, Robins remained modest about Coventry’s chances of securing another FA Cup triumph, acknowledging the tough competition remaining in the tournament.
