Dallas Cowboys Player Markquese Bell

DALLAS, Texas — Safety Markquese Bell will continue his career with the Dallas Cowboys after agreeing to a three-year contract worth up to $12 million ahead of the NFL’s free agency period.

Bell, 26, first joined the Cowboys as an undrafted free agent from Florida A&M in 2022, securing a spot on the team’s 53-man roster with a strong performance during training camp. His ability to play both safety and linebacker has made him a versatile asset on the team.

In 2024, Bell played in nine games, recording six tackles. His re-signing comes just a day before the legal tampering period for free agency begins, indicating the Cowboys’ intention to solidify their defense.

“It’s important for us to keep our core players,” said Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones. “Markquese has shown tremendous growth, and we’re excited to see what he can continue to achieve in the seasons ahead.”

Last season, the Cowboys faced criticism for their ability to sign players promptly, with notable cases involving CeeDee Lamb and Dak Prescott. Their successful negotiation with Bell reflects an improved strategy in handling contract renewals.

Bell expressed gratitude for the opportunity to remain with the Cowboys, stating, “I love this team and our fans. Dallas feels like home, and I’m looking forward to contributing to our success.”

With the re-signing of Bell, the Cowboys aim to enhance their defensive lineup as they prepare for the upcoming season. More updates on the team’s roster changes will be forthcoming in the lead-up to free agency.
