Crawley Town Football Club has announced the postponement of their Sky Bet League Two Play-Off Semi-Final first leg against MK Dons due to a waterlogged pitch. The match was scheduled to kick off at 3pm but was called off at 11:15am, citing unsafe playing conditions at the Broadfield Stadium.

Referee Ross Joyce, appointed to oversee the match, explained that the decision was made after heavy overnight rain left the pitch waterlogged. Despite efforts to assess the situation and explore possibilities, it was evident that the game could not proceed under the circumstances.

Images released by Sky Sports captured the inspection of the pitch, revealing multiple puddles within the penalty areas, further solidifying the need for the postponement. The postponed first leg has been rescheduled for Tuesday, 7 May, with a new kick-off time of 7:30pm.

Disgruntled MK Dons fans expressed their frustration following the news, with some supporters already en route to Crawley for the match. Several fans took to social media platforms to criticize the decision, labeling it ’embarrassing’ and ‘pathetic’, with concerns raised about travel expenses.

Meanwhile, the second leg of the semi-final, initially set for Thursday, 9 May, has been pushed back to Saturday, 11 May, with a 7:45pm kick-off time. The other League Two semi-final will feature Crewe Alexandra against Doncaster, setting the stage for an exciting battle to reach Wembley for the Play-Off final on 19 May.
