ORLANDO, Fla. – The Creighton women’s tennis team concluded its spring break trip on March 13 with a decisive 5-2 victory over Connecticut College at the Oak St. Courts. This win improved Creighton’s record to 9-6 for the season, while Connecticut College fell to 3-5 overall.

Creighton quickly seized an early advantage by winning all three doubles matches. The top doubles team, featuring senior Negin and freshman unnamed player, dominated their match with a score of 6-2. This victory marked Negin’s 62nd career doubles win, tying her for fourth place on the all-time doubles wins list with former player Jennie Hartjes.

The Bluejays clinched the doubles point with further success on the No. 2 and No. 3 courts. Freshmen players, unnamed, and unnamed, secured a 6-3 win at the second position, while the duo of sophomore unnamed and freshman unnamed also delivered a 6-3 victory at No. 3 doubles.

Connecticut College evened the score at 1-1 after earning a default win on the No. 6 singles court, as Creighton competed with only five players. However, the Bluejays quickly regained control of the match. They recorded victories in straight sets on the No. 2, No. 3, No. 4, and No. 5 singles positions.

Sophomore Roy showcased a strong performance, winning 6-0, 6-3 on the No. 2 court. Freshman Cote followed with a solid 6-4, 6-3 victory on the No. 3 singles court, pushing Creighton ahead 3-1.

Connecticut College responded with a hard-fought victory on the top singles court, where they claimed a 3-6, 6-4, 1-0 win, narrowing Creighton’s lead to 3-2.

However, freshman Jurrens clinched the match for Creighton with an impressive 6-2, 6-0 triumph at the No. 5 singles position. Freshman Vo rounded out the competition with a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 4 singles, solidifying the Bluejays’ victory.

This performance concludes a successful spring break for the Creighton women’s tennis team, as they prepare to return to their regular season matches with renewed momentum.
