Cruz Azul midfielder Omar Flores Aldana expressed confidence in his team’s unity ahead of their Concacaf Champions Cup semifinal against Tigres this Wednesday. Flores addressed recent criticisms, stating, “We are doing quite well. Because they see us as strong, they try to destabilize us. But since Vicente took over, we don’t want to let in outside information or people who aren’t part of us.”

Flores emphasized that all players at La Noria are committed to winning both the Concacaf Champions Cup and the Liga MX. “Winning and continuing in both tournaments is much more beautiful. We want the double title, and we are committed to achieving it,” he said, responding to doubts raised about the squad.

Cruz Azul has shown strong performance in recent competitions, and Flores noted that winning the upcoming matches is crucial. “There is motivation; I want to emphasize that we have been protagonists in three tournaments. We have built an important path. We can’t close it without lifting the two titles we are currently competing for. We are confident we can do it, and tomorrow marks the first battle for that,” he added.

Head coach of Cruz Azul, Vicente, shared insights on the approaching match, indicating a different mindset compared to their 2-1 loss in the regular season of Torneo Clausura 2025 against Tigres. “This is different; it’s another tournament and a semifinal. It’s played with a different flavor, and we must approach it responsibly to aim for a positive result,” he stated.

Reflecting on Tigres, Vicente acknowledged their status as a formidable opponent but emphasized his team’s determination to secure a favorable outcome in the first leg of the semifinals.
