Chennai Super Kings (CSK) made a swift move in the midst of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 by signing England fast bowler Richard Gleeson as a replacement for the injured New Zealand batsman, Devon Conway.

Devon Conway, a key player for CSK in their past triumphs, has been sidelined due to a thumb injury sustained during a T20I series featuring Australia and New Zealand in New Zealand.

The IPL organizers confirmed Conway’s unavailability and CSK’s decision to bring in Richard Gleeson at his base price of Rs 50 lakh following the unfortunate injury setback.

Richard Gleeson, a 36-year-old cricketer, comes with prior international experience having represented England in 6 T20Is and claimed 9 wickets. Additionally, Gleeson has featured in 90 T20 matches, securing a total of 101 T20 wickets.

Recently, Gleeson played for the Gulf Giants in the second season of the ILT20, showcasing his prowess by picking up 5 wickets from 5 matches for the Giants.

CSK strategically opted for Gleeson to fortify their overseas pace bowling division, especially with the impending return of Bangladesh‘s Mustafizur Rahman, who is set to leave the team for national duties after May 2nd.
