Curry Honors Iverson in Custom Jacket Ahead of Game

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry made a stylish entrance at the Wells Fargo Center Saturday night, donning a custom Allen Iverson-themed jacket as he prepared to face the Philadelphia 76ers.
The jacket, designed in a varsity style, prominently features a large letter ‘A’ alongside Iverson’s nickname, ‘The Answer,’ embossed under the left shoulder. The blue-and-white piece also displays a list of Iverson’s career accolades, including the highlight of his 2001 MVP award, and boasts the phrase, ‘Only the Strong Survive,’ which is also tattooed on Iverson’s arm.
“I wanted to pay tribute to one of the greats,” Curry said in a pre-game statement. “Allen Iverson is more than just a player; he’s a legend in Philly and across the basketball world. This city and its fans have a lot of pride, and so do I for wearing this.”
Allen Iverson, an 11-time All-Star, spent 12 seasons with the Philadelphia 76ers, with his most notable years from 1996 to 2006. He returned for a brief stint in the 2009-10 season, marking the end of his illustrious NBA career. His impact is still felt in Philadelphia, making Curry’s gesture particularly resonant.
The matchup between the Warriors and the 76ers is set to tip-off at 8:30 p.m. ET. As the season progresses, Curry has been performing exceptionally well, currently averaging 24 points and 6 assists per game in the 2024-25 season.
Fans can expect an exciting game as both teams look to gain momentum in the race for the playoffs.
