Dallas Cowboys 2025 Nfl Free Agency

FRISCO, TX — As the Dallas Cowboys gear up for the 2025 NFL offseason, the organization is focused on key roster moves as free agency approaches on March 12. With uncertainty surrounding defensive backs and defensive linemen, particularly in light of injuries over the previous season, the Cowboys are poised to make strategic decisions.

This offseason presents a crucial opportunity for the Cowboys to reshape their roster following a disappointing 7-10 season in 2024. The team will focus on signing and retaining talented players as they seek to improve depth in critical positions.

Starting with defensive backs, the Cowboys will aim to re-sign Jourdan Lewis, a standout cornerback who was snubbed for both the Pro Bowl and All-Pro honors despite an impressive season. After overcoming a severe foot injury, Lewis consistently ranked as one of the best nickel corners in the NFL and was a vocal leader in the locker room. His anticipated multi-year contract could solidify the secondary further.

Alongside Lewis, the Cowboys are considering other cornerback options. Notably, Israel Mukuamu, originally a cornerback who transitioned to safety, has been a versatile asset. Mukuamu’s performance has warranted consideration for a more permanent role in the Cowboys’ cornerback lineup.

The Cowboys are also looking at veteran cornerbacks like Jonathan Jones and Nate Hobbs. Jones, a two-time Super Bowl champion, has the versatility to play both outside corner and nickel/slot positions. Conversely, Hobbs, still under his rookie contract, has demonstrated potential as a starter, making him an appealing option at a reasonable price.

As free agency draws near, the team must also navigate potential losses. Other unrestricted free agents, including Amani Oruwariye and Andrew Booth, could depart if not resigned. The team’s strategies regarding these players will significantly impact the Cowboys’ overall defense heading into the new season.

On the defensive line, Osa Odighizuwa‘s contract extension remains a top priority as negotiations continue. Alongside Odighizuwa, veteran DeMarcus Lawrence is also a focal point, with speculation surrounding his future given the looming interest from other NFL franchises.

Despite the challenges, the Cowboys are positioned to make impactful moves this offseason. The front office, recognizing the team’s needs, is eager to explore both free agency and the upcoming draft to enhance their roster and return to competitive form.

With only a few days before the legal tampering period begins, Dallas fans are hopeful that the Cowboys will make significant strides towards success in the 2025 season.
