Dallas Cowboys Draft Donovan Ezeiruaku Edge Rusher

FRISCO, Texas — The Dallas Cowboys selected edge rusher Donovan Ezeiruaku with the 44th overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft on April 25. Ezeiruaku, a standout from Boston College, was the fifth edge rusher chosen in this year’s draft. With a history of strong performances, he is expected to fill a significant gap on the Cowboys’ defensive line following the retirement of Zack Martin.

Ezeiruaku, who grew up in Williamstown, New Jersey, had an impressive collegiate career, highlighted by a standout senior season in which he recorded 16.5 sacks, tying a Boston College record. He garnered several accolades, including the ACC Defensive Player of the Year and the Ted Hendricks Award for the nation’s top defensive end.

During his four years at Boston College, Ezeiruaku played in 43 games and recorded 196 total tackles, 40.5 tackles for loss, and 28 sacks. In 2024, he led all defensive players nationally in sacks per game, showcasing his ability to disrupt opposing offenses.

<p“Donovan brings exceptional skill and leadership capabilities to our team,” said a Cowboys spokesperson. “We believe he can significantly contribute to our defense.”

Despite his achievements, Ezeiruaku faces challenges as he transitions to the NFL. Scouts mention that he needs to build strength to compete with larger offensive tackles and may initially be utilized as a third-down pass rusher.

Having built a reputation as a versatile player on the field, Ezeiruaku also contributed on special teams and demonstrated mentorship qualities in the locker room during his college tenure.

As the Cowboys look to bolster their defense, Ezeiruaku’s potential to be a cornerstone player has the organization hopeful for a successful career ahead.
