Dallas Mavericks and TelevisaUnivision Ink Historic Spanish-Language Broadcast Deal
For the first-time ever, the Dallas Mavericks and TelevisaUnivision, the world’s leading Spanish-language media company, have jointly announced a new rights agreement to exclusively broadcast ten 2023-24 season games in Spanish on UniMás (Ch. 49), making the Mavericks the third NBA team with full Spanish telecasts.
“Adding Spanish-language broadcasts for the first-time ever is very exciting for the Mavs and our growing MFFL fanbase,” said Dallas Mavericks CEO Cynt Marshall. “It is important that we continue the journey to make our games accessible for everyone, and we are thrilled to work with TelevisaUnivision to make this happen. ¡Somos Mavs!”
“We are very excited to develop our relationship with the Dallas Mavericks further and offer premium live sports content to our audience that deeply ignites their passion in culture and in language,” commented Jeff Zimmerman, Regional SVP Chief Revenue Officer at Univision Dallas.
With Latinos as the largest population group in Texas, this new distribution agreement highlights the growing popularity of the NBA and the Dallas Mavericks within the Spanish-language market. Mavericks games will be available in Spanish to over 716,000 Latino households and 2.3 million Latinos in North Texas. Victor Villalba, the Spanish voice of the Mavericks, and Univision’s sports reporter Pedro Silva will be in the studio for the newly scheduled UniMás games. Alex Villareal will broadcast on 99.1 Zona MX, which will also be available through the Mavs app.
