Dallas, TX – The Dallas Stars defeated the Edmonton Oilers 6-3 in Game 1 of the Western Conference Final on May 21, 2025, at the American Airlines Center. This victory gives the Stars a 1-0 lead in the best-of-seven series.

The game saw standout performances, particularly from Tyler Seguin, who scored two goals, bringing his total to four for the playoffs. Seguin’s contributions were crucial as the Stars sought to establish early momentum in the series.

In the first period, Edmonton’s Leon Draisaitl opened the scoring with his sixth goal of the playoffs at 10:19, assisted by Darnell Nurse and Connor McDavid. However, Seguin quickly answered back for Dallas, scoring unassisted at 15:22 and leveling the game.

Edmonton regained the lead in the second period with Ryan Nugent-Hopkins scoring on the power play, with assists from McDavid and Draisaitl. Edmonton extended their lead to 3-1 with a goal from Evan Bouchard at 17:48.

The Stars, however, fought back in the third period, scoring five goals to seize the game. Miro Heiskanen and Mikael Granlund each scored power-play goals, followed by a goal from Matt Duchene. Seguin capped the night with his second goal, and Esa Lindell added an empty-net goal to finalize the score.

The game attracted an attendance of 18,532 fans and was broadcast on ESPN. Players from both teams were noted for their physical play, with the Oilers recording 34 hits against the Stars’ 43.

Game 2 is scheduled for May 23, 2025, where the Stars hope to extend their series lead.
