MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. — Free agent guard Dalton Risner is optimistic about securing a spot on an NFL roster in the near future. Having played the last two seasons with the Minnesota Vikings, Risner, 29, expressed that returning to the Vikings remains a possibility, though he expects to be a backup behind Will Fries and Blake Brandel.

“Minnesota has shown interest in bringing me back, but only to an extent,” Risner said. “I will be on a team soon, I could imagine.”

Risner’s experience in the league includes notable stints with the Denver Broncos, who selected him in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft. He spent four seasons in Denver before joining the Vikings in 2023. During his career, he has been a reliable starter whenever he has been healthy, although injuries have impacted his time on the field.

In the previous season, Risner began on injured reserve but made a significant comeback, starting in the last eight games for Minnesota. He remains hopeful about continuing his career, also mentioning that the Denver Broncos and Cincinnati Bengals could be potential landing spots.

All eyes will be on Risner as the free agency period unfolds, with teams likely to evaluate his contribution and experience, especially following his recent performance with the Vikings.
