Damon Arnette Returns to NFL with Houston Texans After Setbacks

HOUSTON, Texas – Damon Arnette Jr. is returning to the NFL after a difficult journey. The cornerback, drafted by the Las Vegas Raiders in 2020, was released from the league just two years later due to off-field issues. Now, he has signed with the Houston Texans, aiming to revive his football career.
Arnette’s fall from grace began soon after his selection, as poor decisions led to his departure from the Raiders. He spent time in the United Football League, working diligently to prove himself again. Recently, he worked out for the Texans and impressed their coaches enough to earn a contract.
“I’m 28 years old right now with three kids, and I have a strong support system,” Arnette said. “I feel like I’ve made a complete turnaround. What I would say is that what they see on film is me being out of commission for three years.”
Arnette reflects on past mistakes, stating, “I had to take a look in the mirror. I invited back my support system, and that’s something I won’t let go of. Navigating new situations alone is dangerous.”
His new journey with the Texans starts with a commitment to professionalism. “I’m a dawg on the field, but now I’m more of a professional than I ever was before,” Arnette said. “I found professionalism and a calm state of mind. I feel like I’m the best version of myself that I’ve ever been.”
The Texans are looking for a defensive boost, and Arnette’s potential may provide just that. As he reads to make an impact in Houston, he hopes to translate hard-earned lessons into performance on the turf.
