Olga Danilović Tennis Match Megasaray Hotels Open

ANTALYA, Turkey — Serbian tennis player Olga Danilović advanced to the semi-finals of the Megasaray Hotels Open 2 on March 28, 2025, after a decisive victory over Swiss player Simona Waltert.

Danilović, ranked No. 41, dominated the match, winning 6-2, 6-2 in just 80 minutes. The top-seeded player showcased her powerful serving and strategic gameplay, leaving Waltert, ranked No. 155, struggling to mount a substantial defense.

“I felt great out there today,” Danilović said following her win. “I was able to execute my game plan effectively, and it’s always nice to win convincingly. I’m looking forward to the next match and hopefully continuing this momentum.”

The victory propels Danilović into the semi-finals, where she will face either Oksana Selehmetova of Russia or Tamara Zidanšek of Slovenia. Both players are looking to gain ground in the tournament, making Danilović’s next challenge critical for her ranking ambitions.

Earlier in the tournament, Danilović defeated Latvian wildcard Adelina Lachinova 6-1, 6-3 and saw her previous opponent, Croatian player Jana Fett, retire during their match when Danilović was leading 6-0.

Danilović’s performance in Antalya has drawn attention. With her victory over Waltert, she moves to the 39th position in the WTA rankings, a personal best for the 22-year-old. If she maintains her current form through the tournament, she has the potential to break into the upper echelon of the sport.

Meanwhile, in other notable matches, American player Taylor Fritz reached the semi-finals of the Masters in Miami after a close battle against Italian Matteo Berrettini, winning 7-5, 6-7 (7-9), 7-5. Fellow American Jessica Pegula also made headlines, advancing to the WTA tournament final by defeating Filipina Alexandra Iala 7-6 (7-3), 5-7, 6-3.

As the Megasaray Hotels Open 2 progresses, all eyes are on Danilović, a rising star in women’s tennis. Her journey in Antalya reflects not only her competitive spirit but also an upward trajectory in her career. With the semi-finals on the horizon, the anticipation builds around whether she can secure her first Challenger title and continue her ascent in the rankings.
