Megasaray Hotels Open 2 Tennis Players Compete

ANTALYA, Turkey — Three players have secured spots in the quarter-finals of the Megasaray Hotels Open 2 following a series of competitive matches on Thursday. Olga Danilovic of Serbia, Veronika Erjavec of Slovakia, and Spain’s Jessica Bouzas Maneiro each claimed victories to move forward in the tournament.

Danilovic, the top seed and currently ranked No. 41, advanced to the quarter-finals when her opponent, Croatian player Jana Fett, retired while trailing in their second-round match. “It’s unfortunate for Fett, but I’m happy to move on,” Danilovic said after the match. Earlier in the day, she defeated Latvian wildcard Adelina Lachinova with a score of 6-1, 6-3. Danilovic will next face the winner of the match between Swiss players Simona Waltert and Sara Bejlek.

Veronika Erjavec, ranked No. 154, also reached the last eight of the tournament after a closely fought victory over China’s Xinyu Gao, winning 7-5, 7-6 (5). “I played well under pressure today,” Erjavec stated. She will compete against either Argentinian María Lourdes Carle, the No. 5 seed, or Romania’s Ana Bogdan in her next match.

Jessica Bouzas Maneiro, the second seed and ranked No. 58, defeated Russian qualifier Maria Pridankina, advancing with a score of 6-2, 6-4. “I’m feeling confident, and I can’t wait for my next match,” Bouzas Maneiro remarked. She is set to face Andorran Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva in the next round.

In another highlight of the day, Oksana Selekhmeteva of Russia triumphed over the third seed, Kamilla Rakhimova, with a score of 6-3, 3-6, 6-0. Selekhmeteva, ranked No. 152, will play against the winner of the match between Hungary’s Dalma Galfi and Slovenian lucky loser Tamara Zidansek.

The Megasaray Hotels Open 2 continues to showcase emerging talents alongside established players, making it a key event on the tennis calendar. With the quarter-finals approaching, the competition is heating up as athletes seek to claim the title.
