After securing the prestigious World Championship title in darts earlier this year, Luke Humphries has opened up about his contemplation of retirement. Known as ‘Cool Hand Luke’ amongst fans, Humphries defeated Gerwyn Price in the final match, marking a significant milestone in his career.

In an exclusive interview with Bet MGM, the current world number one reflected on his aspirations following his major triumph. Initially driven by the goal of winning a major tournament, Humphries’ ambitions evolved to include clinching the triple crown – comprising the World Championship, Premier League, and matchplay titles.

While he narrowly missed out on capturing the matchplay crown, Humphries remains focused on further success in the sport. Expressing confidence in his abilities, he shared his aim of securing between 20 to 25 major titles before considering retirement.

Speaking about his long-term plans, Humphries disclosed his intention to retire by the age of 50, envisioning a career exit with multiple world titles to his name. Emphasizing the demanding nature of professional darts, he acknowledged the need for balance and rest in his future trajectory.

On the other hand, emerging talent Luke Littler, also English, has made waves in the darts scene at just 17 years old. Littler’s impressive journey includes reaching the final of the PDC World Championship at a young age, garnering attention and accolades for his skill on the oche.

Following in the footsteps of sports star Jude Bellingham, Littler recently signed a notable sponsorship deal, further solidifying his presence in the competitive darts sphere. Additionally, he has ventured into trademarking his brand and exploring potential opportunities beyond the dartboard.
