Dave Chisnall World Grand Prix 2024

Morecambe’s darts athlete Dave Chisnall displayed impressive form as he breezed through his opening match at the BoyleSports World Grand Prix. Chisnall, known as ‘Chizzy,’ secured victory against Scotland’s Cameron Menzies in a straight-sets win in Leicester on Tuesday night. The match, broadcast live on Sky Sports, saw Chisnall win both sets 3-0 in a commanding performance.

Chisnall showcased his prowess by delivering four maximum 180s across just six legs. He concluded the match by hitting a double 16 with his first dart, securing a place in the second round of the competition. “I felt great out there and I’m glad to get the win,” Chisnall reportedly said following his victory.

His next opponent will be Belgium’s Dimitri Van Den Bergh, with their match scheduled for Thursday. Chisnall’s recent performances have seen him climb the ranks to world number five, following his recent wins at the Players Championship 23 Tournament and the Flanders Darts Trophy.

Van Den Bergh, often referred to as ‘The Dream Maker,’ faced a tougher initial challenge. He had to come from a set behind against England’s Luke Woodhouse, ultimately winning the final two sets 3-1. The Belgian recorded five 180s in his victory and is known for delivering big finishes under pressure.

This upcoming clash will be the 15th meeting of Chisnall and Van Den Bergh, with Chisnall holding a 9-5 head-to-head advantage. Their history adds an intriguing narrative to the encounter, promising intense competition as both players aim to advance further in the tournament.
