He expressed his joy, saying, “I feel amazing. It’s beautiful, it’s a dream come true. I don’t know how to describe it. It’s so simple, yet so beautiful.”

Following closely behind, Great Britain‘s Matthew Richards took home the silver medal, finishing just two hundredths of a second later at 1:44.74. Richards shared his mixed emotions about the close race, stating, “I’m over the moon and extremely frustrated at the same time. It’s a real rollercoaster.”

In third place was Team USA‘s Luke Hobson, who snatched the bronze medal with a time of 1:44.79. Hobson was all smiles after the race, saying, “I feel great. I couldn’t be happier. It was a really close race and I gave it everything I had in the last 50 meters.”
