Daytona Xfinity Series Race Postponed to Monday Due to Rain, Hopes for Sunday’s Daytona 500 Dwindling
NASCAR has made the decision to postpone the Xfinity Series race at Daytona to Monday morning due to persistent rain. The initial race start time adjustment did not help, ultimately leading to the postponement. The Xfinity Series United Rentals 300 will still be aired as scheduled on FS1 on Monday.
In anticipation of more rain, NASCAR also rescheduled the ARCA Menards Series race, which ran late into Saturday morning at the Daytona International Speedway. The Cup practice session for Saturday was canceled, leaving drivers with little activity.
The weather forecast for the Daytona 500 on Sunday does not look promising, with a high chance of rain during the day and evening according to the National Weather Service. If the Daytona 500 is postponed to Monday, it will follow the Xfinity race.
Despite the uncertainty, NASCAR remains hopeful to run the Daytona 500 on Sunday. The decision might be delayed until late afternoon, as rainfall predictions vary throughout the day. The Daytona International Speedway has announced a sold-out event with Joey Logano starting on the pole.
