Bryson Dechambeau Masters Second Round

AUGUSTA, Ga. — Bryson DeChambeau executed a remarkable second round, shooting 4-under 68 at the Masters on April 11, 2025. Despite his excellent performance, fans expressed disappointment over the lack of coverage, as the golfer was not featured in any of the groups broadcast on the Masters app or ESPN.

His exceptional play on the Augusta National course propelled him to 7-under, placing him one stroke behind leader Justin Rose. Yet, the Masters website showcased groups featuring players like Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler, leaving spectators frustrated at the omission of DeChambeau.

“The Masters blew it with this lack of coverage on Bryson! They gotta stop hating on the LIV s—. This man is killin’ it out there and I can’t watch,” rapper Lil Wayne posted on X, voicing the sentiments of many fans.

Social media was rife with complaints, including remarks such as, “I cannot believe Bryson DeChambeau is not a featured group today at the Masters. He’s electric to watch!” and another user lamented, “Second day in a row you don’t get any coverage of Bryson DeChambeau on the Masters app, and it’s a travesty.”

ESPN aired portions of the tournament until 3 p.m. ET, by which point DeChambeau had already completed 16 holes. Throughout the second round, he birdied three of his first five holes and maintained strong play, although he cooled off on the back nine.

“Bryson DeChambeau is arguably the most popular golfer in the world, and I can’t seem to find a way to see him hit a shot on ESPN’s coverage right now,” another frustrated viewer posted.

At the initial stages of the tournament last year, DeChambeau finished tied for sixth, having shot a 65 in the opening round. Though he didn’t win, he claimed a major title later in 2024 after beating McIlroy by one stroke.

As a former low amateur winner at the Masters in 2016, DeChambeau is poised to seize the coveted green jacket in his ninth Masters appearance, facing fierce competition as the leaderboard remains tightly contested with experienced golfers.

The tournament has been particularly competitive this year, with 54 players making the cut, and a mix of competitors at the top all within three shots of each other. Rory McIlroy shot a 6-under 66 on Friday, putting him at 6-under for the tournament and further intensifying the race.

Golf fans and analysts alike hope that subsequent rounds will heighten the excitement and bring all deserving players, including DeChambeau, the visibility they warrant.
