Dechambeau Liv Golf Korea

INCHEON, South Korea — Bryson DeChambeau took charge of the LIV Golf Korea tournament with a stunning second round, shooting a six-under 66 to reach a total of 13-under, four strokes ahead of the competition. The two-time U.S. Open champion completed his bogey-free weekend at the Jack Nicklaus Golf Club Korea on Saturday, showcasing his skill and composure.

DeChambeau’s performance marks a strong continuation of his recent form, as he had opened the tournament with a share of the lead on Friday alongside Talor Gooch, both shooting 65 in the first round. “I’m feeling very confident about my game,” DeChambeau said after his round. “I made great decisions out there and capitalized on my opportunities.”

Richard Bland of the Cleeks Golf Club trails DeChambeau, currently sitting in second place. Despite a solid effort, Gooch faltered on Saturday, finishing even-par at 72, which placed him in a tie for sixth overall. Gooch had expressed optimism prior to the round, hoping to build off his earlier success.

This tournament marks the first LIV Golf event held in South Korea. Each competition spans 54 holes with a significant purse of $25 million at stake for 54 players. The individual winner walks away with $4 million, while the top team receives $3 million. “It’s exciting to be part of this historical event,” Gooch remarked.

Among the two South Korean players in the field, Kim Min-kyu managed to record a score of 72 on Saturday, positioning himself at three-under overall and tied for 21st. “Competing in my home country adds special motivation,” Kim shared. His fellow countryman, Jang Yu-bin, moved to three-over after a 71 and sits tied for 43rd.

As the final round approaches, DeChambeau has shown no signs of weakness, aiming to maintain his lead. “It’s going to be crucial to stick to my game plan and keep my focus,” he concluded. The pressure will be on as competitors vie for their own share of a significant prize in the final round.
