Deepti Sharma Creates History in Women’s Premier League with Hat-tricks
Indian women’s cricket all-rounder Deepti Sharma has made waves in the Women’s Premier League, achieving a remarkable feat with a hat-trick in the latest season.
Playing for the UP Warriors, Deepti became the first Indian female bowler to secure a hat-trick in the league’s history during a match against Delhi on March 8th.
Although her outstanding performance led UP to victory by one run in that match, her team unfortunately missed out on the playoffs.
Deepti’s journey from a middle-class family in Agra to the Indian cricket team has been nothing short of inspiring.
Starting at the age of nine, supported by her father Bhagwan Sharma and mother Sushila Sharma, Deepti’s talent was recognized early on by her brother Sumit Sharma.
Sumit, a former U-19 and U-23 player for UP, played a crucial role in nurturing Deepti’s skills, sacrificing his job to support her training.
Sumit Sharma recalled the day in November 2014 when he learned of Deepti’s selection in the Indian women’s cricket team, a moment that validated his decision to quit his job in favor of supporting his sister’s career.
