Defence Attorney Suggests Alternative Scenario in Senzo Meyiwa Murder Trial
A defence attorney in the ongoing Senzo Meyiwa murder trial has put forward an alternative scenario, suggesting a new perspective in the high-profile case. The attorney, Thulani Mngomezulu, who is representing Muzikawukhulelwa Sibiya, argued during court proceedings that the true shooter responsible for Meyiwa’s death may not be among the five men currently on trial.
Mngomezulu expressed skepticism regarding the evidence presented, insinuating that critical details may have been misconstrued or manipulated. He proposed a different sequence of events, pointing to the possibility that Meyiwa may have been fatally shot during a heated altercation involving Longwe Twala.
The incident in question took place in Vosloorus back in October 2014, where Meyiwa tragically lost his life. At the time, Longwe Twala, who was in a relationship with one of the Khumalo sisters, was present in the house alongside various family members and friends.
The testimony of Sgt Batho Mogola, the lead investigator in the case, is anticipated to shed further light on the proceedings as the trial continues. Mngomezulu’s claims have injected a new layer of complexity into the murder trial, challenging the established narrative and prompting a reexamination of the evidence.
