A Delta Air Lines flight bound for Amsterdam had to make an emergency landing at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York after reports surfaced that some in-flight meals had gone bad. The flight, operated by Delta Air Lines and designated as flight 136, originated from Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport.

The occurrence was brought to light when a segment of the main cabin in-flight meals was found to be spoiled mid-air. As a precaution, the flight was rerouted to New York where it landed around 4 a.m. Passengers were met by medical personnel upon arrival, and 12 individuals were assessed, although none required further medical attention or transfers to a medical facility, according to the Fire Department of New York.

It remains unclear how many passengers actually consumed the spoiled food before the issue was identified. Delta Air Lines issued a statement expressing regret for the inconvenience inflicted on travelers due to the emergency landing. The airline’s Food Safety unit is already at work to swiftly pinpoint the affected product and initiate an investigation into the incident.
