2025 Detroit Grand Prix Takes Center Stage in Downtown

DETROIT, Michigan — The excitement is palpable as the 2025 Detroit Grand Prix kicks off today, drawing attention from racing fans around the country. The event features high-speed racing with cars reaching speeds over 230 MPH in the heart of downtown Detroit.
The day began with warm-ups at 9 a.m., followed by the NTT NXT race at 10:30 a.m. The main event, the 2025 Detroit Grand Prix, is set to start at 12 p.m. This year marks FOX 2’s first time broadcasting the event, offering viewers a multi-camera experience to enhance their viewing.
Three cameras positioned along pit lane will provide a unique look at the racing action and the teams’ pit stops. Fans can tune in from home or at the track to experience the thrill of the race. To enhance the experience, viewers are encouraged to download the FOX LOCAL app for streaming options.
The race course is a 1.645-mile, nine-turn street circuit that showcases some of Detroit’s most vibrant areas. Today’s race will consist of 100 laps, totaling 164 miles, and will be broadcast live on FOX at 12:30 p.m. ET.
Colton Herta of Andretti Global secured the pole position during Saturday’s qualifying session, clocking a lap time of 1:00.4779. This marks Herta’s first pole of the season and the 15th of his IndyCar career. He strategically started with used Firestone tires before switching to softer alternatives.
David Malukas, representing A.J. Foyt Enterprises, achieved a career-best qualifying position by securing second place with a time of 1:00.6492. In third place was Kyle Kirkwood from Andretti Global, who qualified at 1:00.7312.
