Detroit Lions Begin Signing Undrafted Free Agents After 2025 NFL Draft

Detroit, MI – Following the conclusion of the 2025 NFL Draft, the Detroit Lions have commenced their process of signing undrafted rookie free agents (UDFAs). With 2025’s draft wrapped up, all eligible players who were not selected can now become part of any NFL team, including the Lions.
Typically, the Lions sign between 10 to 20 undrafted players, but this year, their roster is notably full, potentially limiting their acquisitions to about 10 players to reach the 90-man limit. As news of signings comes in, fans are encouraged to stay updated as the list can change. Official signings will be confirmed by the team in the days following the draft.
Detroit’s general manager, Brad Holmes, emphasized the importance of strengthening the offensive and defensive lines during the draft. “Continuing to add talent in the trenches is a priority for the organization,” he said. Holmes explained that building a strong foundation in these areas is critical, stating, “That’s where games are won.”
The Lions have seen success in the past by finding undrafted players who make the roster. For instance, Isaiah Williams and Loren Strickland made the final 53-man roster last year. Previous undrafted players such as Brock Wight, Jerry Jacobs, Demetrius Taylor, and Steven Gilmore also achieved the same after joining the team.
The following players have reportedly agreed to UDFA contracts with the Lions:
- Mason Miller, OL, North Dakota State
- Caden Prieskorn, TE, Ole Miss
- Anthony Tyus III, RB, Ohio
- Jackson Meeks, WR, Syracuse ($200,000 guaranteed)
- Ian Kennelly, S, Grand Valley State
- Jakobie Keeney-James, WR, UMass
- Leif Fautanu, OL, Arizona State
- Keith Cooper Jr., DL, Houston
- Gavin Holmes, CB, Texas
As the Lions move forward with their signings, they will look to enhance their roster and perhaps uncover some hidden gems among this year’s undrafted free agents.
