Detroit Lions WR Jameson Williams Faces Two-Game Suspension for Violating NFL’s PED Policy
Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams is reportedly facing a two-game suspension for violating the NFL‘s Performance-Enhancing Substances (PES) policy, according to ESPN‘s Eric Woodyard. This development comes as Williams is in the midst of a breakout season in 2024, having appeared in six games and accumulated 361 receiving yards and three touchdowns from 17 receptions, along with four carries for 32 yards.
Williams, who was selected by the Lions with the 12th overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, has been a significant contributor to the team’s offense. However, this suspension would see him miss crucial games, including the upcoming matches against the Tennessee Titans and the Green Bay Packers. Once the suspension is officially announced, Williams is expected to be eligible to return in time for the Lions’ game against the Houston Texans on November 10.
This is not the first time Williams has faced disciplinary action from the NFL. Last year, he was initially given a six-game suspension for wagering on non-NFL games, which was later reduced to four games following revisions to the league’s gambling policies.
Details about the specific substance that led to this violation remain unclear, but it is reported that Williams plans to forgo any appeal and accept the suspension.
