Devils' Michael Mcleod And Cal Foote Granted Leave Of Absences By Team

Forward Michael McLeod and defenseman Cal Foote have been granted indefinite leave of absences from the New Jersey Devils, as announced by the NHL franchise on Wednesday.

McLeod, selected 22nd overall in the 2016 NHL Draft, has requested and been granted the leave. The 25-year-old forward has recorded 19 points in 45 games this season for the Devils, totaling 85 points in his career so far.

Foote, who was picked 14th overall in the 2017 NHL Draft, has also requested and been granted an indefinite leave of absence. The 25-year-old defenseman has registered one assist in four games with the Devils this season, in addition to his statistics with the Utica Comets in the American Hockey League.

No specific reasons were given for the players’ requests, and the club provided no further comment at this time.

It is noteworthy that both McLeod and Foote have previously played on the 2018 Canadian junior hockey team, which is currently facing sexual assault charges in London, Ontario, Canada. However, no players have been named in relation to these charges.
