Devin Booker Phoenix Suns Scoring Record

PHOENIX — Devin Booker made history Monday night, becoming the Phoenix Suns‘ all-time leading scorer with a corner three-pointer in the third quarter against the Portland Trail Blazers. The 28-year-old guard surpassed Walter Davis‘ 15,666-point record, set nearly 40 years ago, in just 642 games.

Booker, who entered the game needing 23 points to break the record, wasted no time, scoring 12 points in the first quarter. His milestone basket came with 7:34 remaining in the third quarter, solidifying his place in Suns history. “It’s something I don’t take lightly,” Booker said after the game. “This is my home now.”

Since being drafted by the Suns in 2015 out of the University of Kentucky, Booker has transformed from a little-used rookie to the face of the franchise. He has earned four All-Star selections, led the Suns to the 2021 NBA Finals, and become one of the league’s most prolific scorers. His 70-point game in Boston in 2017 remains one of the most iconic performances in NBA history.

Booker’s connection to Phoenix runs deep. Fans have embraced him through both the team’s struggles and successes. “I first felt a connection during my rookie season,” Booker said. “Once I started playing extensive minutes, I felt the city’s support.”

Beyond his on-court achievements, Booker has endeared himself to fans through unique gestures, such as hiding sneakers around the city for fans to find. “He’s blessed enough to have this cool shoe deal with Nike,” said Andy Page, a Suns fan who found a pair of Booker’s hidden sneakers. “He wants to share that with people. Here, have some free shoes.”

Booker’s impact extends beyond scoring. He ranks third in franchise history in scoring average (24.4 points per game) and leads in field goals and three-pointers made. His leadership has also helped attract top talent to Phoenix, revitalizing the franchise.

The Suns will honor Booker’s milestone during their next home game Friday against the Utah Jazz. As he continues his career, Booker has the potential to climb even higher on the NBA’s all-time scoring list, further cementing his legacy in Phoenix and the league.
