Ketel Marte Corbin Carroll Baseball Game

ATLANTA, Georgia — The Arizona Diamondbacks ended a five-game road losing streak Tuesday night, defeating the Atlanta Braves 8-3 at Truist Park. Ketel Marte and Corbin Carroll each hit two home runs, driving the team to victory.

Diamondbacks pitcher Zac Gallen (4-7) had an impressive outing, allowing just one earned run over seven innings. He struck out four batters and retired the first ten Braves batters he faced. Before this game, Gallen had struggled with an 8.02 ERA in his last four starts.

Marte contributed significantly, going 3 for 3 with three RBIs and two walks. His first home run blasted 445 feet into the right field stands during the first inning. Carroll also shone, going 3 for 4 with four RBIs and scoring three runs. He now has 18 home runs this season.

Braves pitcher Spencer Strider (0-4) had a difficult game, surrendering three home runs and allowing five runs on six hits in five innings, raising his ERA to 5.68 for the season.

The Diamondbacks worked well as a unit, with strong defensive plays, including center fielder Alek Thomas making a running catch in the eighth inning that prevented a potential game-tying hit from Marcell Ozuna.

In the ninth inning, Carroll hit a three-run homer, extending Arizona’s lead to 8-3. Ryan Thompson closed the game for Arizona, securing the victory. The Diamondbacks will face the Braves again on Wednesday, June 4, with Merrill Kelly on the mound.
