Disney’s Lilo & Stitch Surpasses $800M in Global Box Office Revenue

LOS ANGELES, CA
Disney’s live-action adaptation of Lilo & Stitch has surpassed $800 million at the global box office, reaching a milestone of $807.6 million as of Wednesday. The film, directed by Dean Fleischer Camp, is projected to cross the $1 billion mark, potentially making it the first studio film to achieve this feat in 2025.
The movie’s international release started on May 21, followed by a domestic release on May 23. It launched with record-breaking numbers, including the biggest four-day Memorial Day weekend in history. The film grossed a total of $348 million domestically and $459.6 million internationally.
As of now, Lilo & Stitch has held the top spot at the box office for three consecutive weekends. It is currently the second-highest-grossing studio film of the year, following A Minecraft Movie, and is outpacing that film’s international earnings.
In several Latin American countries, Lilo & Stitch has reached the all-time top ten for box office grosses, setting a record as the highest-grossing Disney live-action title in Mexico. The film’s top international markets include Mexico ($58.6 million), the United Kingdom ($42.8 million), and France ($33.2 million).
As competition intensifies, another live-action family film, Universal’s How To Train Your Dragon, is set to enter the market this weekend. The performance of both films will be closely monitored in the coming days.
The success of Lilo & Stitch underscores the enduring popularity of Disney’s animated classics and highlights the appeal of live-action adaptations.
