Djokovic Advances Amid PSG Fans’ Celebrations at French Open

PARIS — Novak Djokovic reached the fourth round of the French Open for the 16th consecutive year with a 6-3, 6-4, 6-2 victory over qualifier Fili Misolic on Saturday. The match was punctuated by the celebrations of Paris Saint-Germain fans watching the Champions League final on their phones, as PSG triumphed over Inter Milan 5-0.
Djokovic expressed his surprise at the crowd’s enthusiasm. ‘It was interesting. The crowd was really following the game. And I could hear when they scored,’ he said. ‘Now I heard it’s 5-0. Quite a result, to be honest.’
During the game, the sounds of fireworks from nearby PSG’s stadium added to the lively atmosphere. At one point, the chair umpire had to remind spectators to keep their noise down, met with boos and whistles from the audience.
Djokovic, who has yet to lose a set in this year’s tournament, mentioned that night sessions attract a different kind of energy. ‘Night sessions are always different. They’re always louder,’ he noted. This victory improves Djokovic’s career record at the French Open to 99-16.
Looking ahead, Djokovic will face Cam Norrie on Monday. He has a perfect record against Norrie, having won all five of their previous encounters.
Earlier, Italy’s Jannik Sinner dominated Jiri Lehecka, winning 6-0, 6-1, 6-2, marking the quickest men’s match of the tournament so far. Sinner will continue his quest for a first French Open title against Andrey Rublev, who advanced after his opponent’s withdrawal.
The French Open began on May 25, 2025, and will conclude with the men’s final on June 8.
