Los Angeles Dodgers Roster Changes 2025

LOS ANGELES, CA — The Los Angeles Dodgers are making significant roster changes after their eighth World Series championship. The team quickly started retooling as they prepare for the 2025 season, focusing on strengthening the outfield.

One of the recent additions, Michael Conforto, was brought in for his veteran experience and a career .251 batting average. However, so far this season, he is struggling with a batting average of just .164, raising concerns about his performance.

Despite his past success, including a .450 slugging percentage and 20 home runs with the San Francisco Giants last season, Conforto has not met expectations. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts acknowledged Conforto’s struggles, noting his consistent effort even amidst frustration.

“I think the last handful of days he’s swung the bat better but just really not getting a whole lot of results with that,” Roberts said. “He’s in a good spot. I’m sure he’s frustrated. … But I applaud his work and his consistent effort.”

Encouragingly, Conforto has shown improvement in his last ten games, where he has a .265 batting average and an OPS of .771. The Dodgers hope he can build on this performance and fulfill their expectations.

In other Dodgers news, the team decided to release utility man Chris Taylor due to a lack of playing time. Taylor, a veteran since 2016, expressed his desire for more opportunities, leading to his departure. Roberts spoke highly of Taylor’s contributions and his postseason history.

“It was tough. He handled the conversation really well,” Roberts said. “He’s had a lot of huge moments for us in the postseason. He always did what we asked.”

Taylor’s limited appearances this season included 35 plate appearances, where he hit 7-for-35 with 13 strikeouts. His situation was complicated by the star power within the Dodgers roster, limiting his playing chances. As a two-time World Series champion, he is now looking for a team that will provide him a more consistent role.

As the Dodgers navigate these changes, they remain focused on enhancing their championship-caliber team for the long season ahead.
