Dodgers Aim for Resurgence Against Struggling Rockies in Key Series

LOS ANGELES, Calif. — The Los Angeles Dodgers are set to host the Colorado Rockies for a three-game series starting Monday night, seeking to rebound after a disappointing stretch of games. Following two straight losses and a recent 16-0 defeat, the Dodgers hope to capitalize on the Rockies’ offensive struggles, as they come off a three-game shutout by the San Diego Padres.
Dustin May, the Dodgers’ starting pitcher for the opener, has been a bright spot for the team, allowing just one earned run in 11 innings this season. He will take the mound against Antonio Senzatela of the Rockies, who has yet to secure a win this season with an ERA of 5.14.
May has had success against Colorado in the past, holding a 2.81 ERA over 16 innings pitched against the Rockies, all of which took place at Dodger Stadium. Interestingly, he has not yet faced the Rockies at their home field, Coors Field. Conversely, Senzatela has struggled in Chavez Ravine, tallying a 5.45 ERA over 39⅔ innings in previous outings.
The Rockies enter the series with a dismal record of 3-11, having failed to score any runs in their last three games. They were outscored 16-0 in the series against San Diego this past weekend. In Sunday’s matchup, they managed only two hits against Padre’s pitching, indicating ongoing offensive difficulties.
“It’s been a tough start for us, but we need to find a way to break out,” Rockies manager Bud Black stated. “Every game counts, and we have to regain our rhythm.”
The Dodgers are aiming for their second consecutive World Series title and started the season strong with eight wins. However, they have hit a rough patch, losing three out of their last five games. They were particularly disappointed with their recent loss against the Chicago Cubs.
“We’re looking at this series against Colorado as a chance to get back on track,” said Dodgers manager Dave Roberts. “We have a stellar lineup, and I believe we can take advantage of their pitching.”
As for player performance, one player to watch for the Rockies is Kyle Farmer, who is currently hitting .349 with six extra-base hits. His offensive contributions will be crucial for the Rockies as they seek to break their losing streak.
The first pitch of the Dodgers-Rockies series opener is scheduled for 10:10 PM EST. A rebound for the Dodgers could help solidify their standing in the competitive NL West, where their early season dominance has slipped slightly.
