Dodgers’ Alex Vesia Welcomes First Child After Stellar Pitching Season

LOS ANGELES, Calif. — After a remarkable pitching season, Los Angeles Dodgers relief pitcher Alex Vesia, 29, announced that he and his wife, Kayla, are expecting their first child together. The news comes just a day after Vesia celebrated his birthday, marking a new chapter in his life following a successful performance in the 2023 MLB season.
Vesia was a cornerstone of the Dodgers’ bullpen last year, finishing the season with an impressive 1.76 ERA. His efforts continued into the postseason as he did not surrender a single run in his seven appearances, contributing to the Dodgers’ World Series victory.
“Baby Vesia coming soon! We are beyond excited for this next chapter!” the couple wrote in a caption on their shared Instagram post.
Beginning his professional career with the Miami Marlins in 2020, Vesia struggled with an ERA of 18.69 over five outings. However, his trade to the Dodgers in 2021 marked a turnaround with a much-improved 2.25 ERA in 41 appearances.
In 2022, he further improved, posting a 2.15 ERA with a perfect 5-0 record and a career-high 79 strikeouts against 24 walks. Although his 2023 season saw some challenges, Vesia rebounded with 87 strikeouts over 66.1 innings, highlighted by his exceptional performance in the World Series.
During the Fall Classic, he pitched 2.2 innings, notching two strikeouts while allowing only one hit. “With the support of the Dodgers community, I’m excited to excel at my new position of becoming a dad,” Vesia said.
Vesia’s inspiring journey is a testament to resilience and growth, both professionally and personally.
