Dodgers Lose Fourth Straight in 9-5 Defeat to Diamondbacks

LOS ANGELES, California — The Los Angeles Dodgers lost 9-5 to the Arizona Diamondbacks on Monday night, marking their fourth consecutive defeat. This loss came in the opening game of a three-game series at Dodger Stadium.
Arizona jumped to an early lead in the first inning when Ketel Marte singled, followed by a walk to Lourdes Gurriel Jr. Eugenio Suárez later hit a double, capitalizing on a miscommunication between Dodgers outfielders Hyeseong Kim and Teoscar Hernández. The Diamondbacks scored again through a groundout by Josh Naylor, making it 2-0 before the Dodgers could bat.
The Diamondbacks continued to build their lead in the second inning. Tim Tawa‘s single set the stage for Geraldo Perdomo‘s sacrifice fly, extending the lead to 3-0. The situation deteriorated quickly for the Dodgers when Landon Knack, who took over pitching duties, allowed two runs from back-to-back homers by Gurriel and Gabriel Moreno, bringing the score to 7-0 in the third inning.
Despite the rough beginning, Knack adapted and pitched four shutout innings afterward. Dodgers opener Jack Dreyer faced challenges as he conceded three runs in two innings. However, the Dodgers later managed some offense with three solo home runs, two from Mookie Betts and one from Shohei Ohtani, who regained the MLB home run lead with 17.
In the ninth inning, a late rally finally materialized for the Dodgers. Teoscar Hernández drove in a run with a groundout, and Tommy Edman added a single, bringing the score to 9-5. However, their comeback attempt fell short with the tying run waiting on deck.
The Dodgers will seek to turn things around when they face the Diamondbacks again in a matchup featuring right-handers Ryne Nelson and Tony Gonsolin.
