Dodgers Rally in Eighth to Secure 9-3 Victory Over A’s

LOS ANGELES — The Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Oakland Athletics 9-3 on Wednesday night at Dodger Stadium, delivering a strong performance highlighted by five runs in the eighth inning.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto earned his fifth win of the season, pitching six innings, allowing three runs, and striking out six batters. This game marked the highest run support Yamamoto has seen this season.
The matchup began competitively, with the Dodgers taking an early lead thanks to solo home runs from Shohei Ohtani in the first inning and Andy Pages in the second. The A’s responded with runs in the third and fourth innings, briefly taking the lead.
Hyeseong Kim registered his first major league home run in the fifth inning, bringing the Dodgers back in front. In the sixth, Miguel Rojas hit a two-out double to score Michael Conforto, putting the Dodgers ahead 4-3.
The decisive eighth inning began with a single from Kiké Hernández, followed by a sacrifice from Rojas. An intentional walk to Ohtani set up Mookie Betts, who doubled to drive in both runners. Max Muncy then capped the inning with a three-run home run, solidifying a commanding advantage for the home team.
Yamamoto’s successful outing solidified his status among the Dodgers’ pitching core, with two of the team’s three quality starts this month belonging to him. The Dodgers scored 13 runs in total across his nine starts this season.
Roki Sasaki is sidelined, prompting the Dodgers to prepare for a bullpen game in Thursday’s series finale, with Osvaldo Bido starting for the A’s.
