Los Angeles Dodgers International Bonus Pool Money Trade

LOS ANGELES, Calif. — The Los Angeles Dodgers have bolstered their international bonus pool money to over $7 million through two recent trades, positioning themselves to finalize a deal with Japanese pitching sensation Roki Sasaki and potentially add more international prospects.

The Dodgers traded minor league outfielder Arnaldo Lantigua to the Cincinnati Reds in exchange for additional international bonus pool money, following a similar move earlier this week. MLB insider Francys Romero reported that the Dodgers received over $1 million from the Reds, bringing their total pool to approximately $7 million.

This financial flexibility allows the Dodgers to not only meet the terms of Sasaki’s anticipated signing but also pursue other international talent during the 2025 signing period. The team had initially asked 2025 signees to delay their agreements until 2026, but the influx of bonus pool money has changed their strategy.

“Between these two trades, the Dodgers likely have enough to satisfy the Sasaki deal and potentially add more international prospects,” Romero said. “This positions them as a major player in the international market.”

Sasaki, a 22-year-old right-handed pitcher, is widely regarded as one of the top international prospects. His signing would mark a significant coup for the Dodgers, who are already considered one of MLB’s most aggressive teams in pursuing international talent.

The Dodgers’ recent moves underscore their commitment to building a dominant roster for the next decade. With Sasaki potentially joining an already formidable pitching staff, the team is poised to remain a World Series contender for years to come.
