Dodgers Vs Rockies April 2025 Game Highlights

LOS ANGELES, CA — The Los Angeles Dodgers battled through a nail-biter Wednesday night, narrowly defeating the Colorado Rockies 8-7 in a game highlighted by explosive offensive displays from both teams.

The Dodgers’ power surge began in the first inning when Shohei Ohtani and Freddie Freeman both homered during a seven-run onslaught. Ohtani crushed a leadoff 448-foot homer to deep right field and followed up with an RBI single, driving Rockies’ starter Germán Márquez from the mound. The Dodgers batted around, extending their lead to 7-1.

Despite the early dominance, the Rockies fought back. Michael Toglia hit a grand slam in the third inning, and Mickey Moniak added a solo shot shortly after, narrowing the deficit. Rockies manager Bud Black said, “We showed resilience. Our guys didn’t quit, even when we were down big.”

The tension mounted as the Dodgers’ bullpen took over, delivering six innings of three-hit relief. Ben Casparius (1-0) pitched three effective innings, while closer Tanner Scott secured his sixth save by striking out three Rockies in the ninth, throwing all 11 pitches for strikes.

On the other hand, Dodgers starter Bobby Miller struggled in his season debut, yielding six runs and eight hits over three innings. “I didn’t have my best stuff, but my team picked me up,” Miller stated after the game.

The Rockies, who have now lost 33 of their last 43 matchups against the Dodgers, wrapped up a dismal 0-6 road trip in Southern California and fell to 3-15 this season. Black acknowledged the team’s struggles, saying, “We have to find a way to get better. We can’t let these games slip away.”

With the win, the Dodgers improved to 13-6 and will look to build momentum as they head into their next series against Texas on Friday. Ohtani’s performance was a standout, but the team knows there is more work to be done as the season progresses.
