Dodgers’ Teoscar Hernández Misses Lineup Due to Stomach Bug

LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Outfielder Teoscar Hernández will not play in Monday’s game against the Colorado Rockies due to a stomach bug, Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts confirmed. While Hernández is currently considered day-to-day, there remains a possibility he could be available off the bench.
Hernández, who is hitting .281 with five home runs and 16 runs batted in this season, has been one of the Dodgers’ most reliable hitters. In 17 games, he boasts a .872 OPS, making his absence particularly impactful as the team looks to rebound from a tough stretch.
The defending champions are facing challenges, having dropped three consecutive series to the Philadelphia Phillies, Washington Nationals, and Chicago Cubs. The Dodgers enter Monday’s matchup with an 11-6 record, placing them third in the National League West behind the San Diego Padres and San Francisco Giants.
Roberts addressed the team’s recent struggles, which included a franchise-worst 16-0 loss to the Cubs on Saturday. “I do think it’s too early to panic,” Roberts said. “We still got a good ball club. Yesterday was ugly. Certainly never want Miggy Ro to throw two innings of a baseball game. We’re going to be just fine. I still expect to win the division. I still expect to win the World Series.”
Hernández is the latest Dodger to battle a stomach ailment. Mookie Betts previously suffered the most severe case, having lost nearly 20 pounds over several weeks. Additionally, right-handed pitcher Michael Kopech and utility player Kiké Hernández have also dealt with similar issues this season.
With Hernández unavailable, Kiké Hernández stepped into the lineup, playing second base, while Tommy Edman took over center field. Andy Pages moved to right field as the Dodgers prepare for their series against the Rockies, hoping to have their All-Star back by Tuesday’s game.
The continuing illness within the locker room comes at a critical time for the Dodgers, who have seen their performance dip significantly, going 3-6 over their last nine games. As fans remain concerned about the team’s recent form, Roberts continues to express confidence in his players and their ability to turn things around.
