Dodgers Win Heated Battle Against Padres, 8-6

LOS ANGELES, California — The Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the San Diego Padres 8-6 in a tense matchup Tuesday night, highlighted by a critical two-run homer in the sixth inning. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts was ejected during the game amid rising tensions between the teams.
The game began with the Padres taking an early lead, as Luis Arraez reached base and later scored on an RBI single from Gavin Sheets. Dodger pitcher Jack Dreyer, opening the game, struggled initially but settled into the second inning.
In the second, Los Angeles rallied, with a double from Will Smith that set up a sacrifice fly from Max Muncy, tying the game at 1-1. Andy Pages then hit his first homer of the night, giving the Dodgers a 2-1 advantage.
However, the Padres responded in the third inning. After a key double from Martin Maldonado and a hit by pitch to Fernando Tatis Jr., Sheets contributed another sacrifice fly that pushed San Diego ahead 3-2.
Pages tied the game again in the fourth, hitting his second homer of the night. The sixth inning proved pivotal for Los Angeles, as a series of hits, led by another homer from Smith, allowed the Dodgers to break open the game with five runs, bringing the score to 8-3.
Despite the sizable lead, the Padres fought back in the seventh. A two-run homer from rookie Trenton Brooks and a balk created by Dodgers pitcher Michael Kopech brought San Diego closer at 8-6. However, Dodgers reliever Tanner Scott secured the save in the ninth, sealing the win for Los Angeles.
Notably, following a heated exchange on the field regarding hit batters, Roberts was ejected after arguing with umpire Tripp Gibson. This incident marked the manager’s first ejection of the season, further intensifying an already charged atmosphere.
The series continues Wednesday, with the Dodgers looking for their fifth straight win and a series victory against the Padres.
