NEW YORK — Dom Smith, a versatile first baseman and outfielder, is making a potential return to New York after signing a minor-league contract with the Yankees, sources confirmed Tuesday. The 29-year-old, who previously played for the Mets, Nationals, Red Sox, and Reds, aims to revive his career in the Bronx.

Smith, who debuted in Major League Baseball at 22 with the New York Mets, spent six seasons in Queens before brief stints with the Washington Nationals, Boston Red Sox, and Cincinnati Reds.
