Domestic Cricket Legend Faiz Fazal Bids Farewell at End of Stellar Career
Domestic cricket stalwart Faiz Fazal has announced his retirement from professional cricket, marking the end of an illustrious career that spanned over two decades. The left-handed batsman, who represented Vidarbha with distinction, made the decision to retire after his team’s ongoing Ranji Trophy match against Haryana at the VCA Stadium in Nagpur.
With a phenomenal record as the top run-scorer for Vidarbha in both first-class and List A cricket, Fazal leaves behind a legacy that cements his status as a true legend of domestic cricket. In his impressive career spanning 138 first-class matches, he amassed a total of 9184 runs at an average of 41, including 24 centuries and 39 fifties.
In his final appearance, Fazal scored 1 run in the first innings before unfortunately bagging a golden duck in the second. His contribution to Vidarbha’s success in the domestic circuit extends to his performance in List A cricket, where he accumulated 3641 runs from 113 matches, featuring 10 centuries and 22 half-centuries.
One of the highlights of Faiz Fazal‘s career came in 2016 during his lone international appearance for India against Zimbabwe at the Harare Sports Club. In that match, he showcased his skill with an unbeaten 55 off 61 deliveries, which included 7 boundaries and a maximum.
