Doncic and Booker Make NBA History with 60-Point Games on Same Day
In a historic night for the NBA, Luka Doncic and Devin Booker both etched their names in the record books by scoring 60 points or more on the same day. This unprecedented feat has only occurred five times in league history.
Doncic’s extraordinary performance led the Dallas Mavericks to a thrilling 148-143 victory over the Atlanta Hawks. The Slovenian superstar lit up the scoreboard with a career-high 73 points, surpassing the 70-point mark set by Joel Embiid earlier in the week. Doncic’s remarkable display puts him alongside basketball legends such as Wilt Chamberlain, Kobe Bryant, and David Thompson. Dirk Nowitzki’s franchise record for points in a half was also shattered by Doncic, who scored an astonishing 41 points in the first half alone.
On the other side of the court, Devin Booker showcased his scoring prowess as well, dropping 62 points for the Phoenix Suns. Unfortunately, his incredible effort wasn’t enough to secure a victory, as the Suns fell short to the Indiana Pacers in a narrow 133-131 loss.
Australian player Josh Green had a standout performance for the Mavericks, contributing with a season-high 21 points. Additionally, Dante Exum made valuable contributions off the bench for Dallas.
Doncic’s dominance continued into the second half, defying the Atlanta defense and scoring at will. Despite the absence of his teammate Kyrie Irving, who was sidelined with an injury, Doncic effortlessly propelled his team to victory. However, the Hawks failed to effectively double-team Doncic as anticipated, allowing him to dominate the game.
The historical significance of these performances cannot be overstated. Both Doncic and Booker’s 60-point games on the same day cement their places among some of the greatest scorers in NBA history.
