Double Ismart Movie: Mixed Reviews

The latest movie to hit the screens is “Double iSmart,” directed by Puri Jagannadh and starring Ram Pothineni. It’s a sequel to the popular film “iSmart Shankar,” and expectations were high after the success of the first installment.

In this film, Ram plays Shankar, a thief living in Old City, who falls in love with a girl named Jannat, portrayed by Kavya Thapar. However, things take a twist when a mafia don known as Big Bull, played by Sanjay Dutt, seeks a way to extend his life by transferring his memories into Shankar’s brain.

The plot sounds intriguing, reminiscent of Hollywood concepts, but unfortunately, critics say the execution feels routine and lacks the excitement that made the original popular. Many believe it missed the chance to innovate and relied heavily on familiar tropes.

Ram Pothineni’s performance is said to be energetic, showcasing his dance skills and charisma. However, some feel he didn’t fully embrace the complexity of his character, despite having a unique opportunity to play someone with split personalities due to the memory transfer.

Kavya Thapar has been praised for her role, contributing both to the romantic angle and the action sequences. Sanjay Dutt’s presence adds star power, but some felt his character lacked depth.

A comedic track featuring Ali didn’t land well with the audience, often feeling irrelevant and over the top. Viewers noted that the humor didn’t translate well and detracted from the main storyline.

Overall, while the film has some positives, like the music by Manisharma and the engaging cinematography, it struggles under the weight of its own expectations.
