STAMFORD, Conn. — WWE Speed Champion Dragon Lee successfully defended his title against Chad Gable in a high-stakes match on February 1, 2025, retaining his championship with just over 35 seconds remaining on the clock. The victory came after Gable won the WWE Speed Championship Contender Tournament, earning the right to challenge Lee.

Lee, a member of the LWO faction, secured the win with his signature Operation Dragon finisher. Following the match, WWE announced the brackets for the new WWE Speed Women’s Championship Contender Tournament. The tournament will kick off next Wednesday at 12/11c, with Kayden Carter facing Zoey Stark in the first round. The winner will advance to face either Alba Fyre or Shotzi, with the ultimate victor earning a shot at reigning WWE Speed Women’s Champion Candice LeRae.
