HAMPTON, Va. — Drexel University embarks on its final regular-season road trip Thursday, facing Hampton University at 7 p.m. The matchup kicks off a series of three consecutive away games against fellow Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) contenders.

The Dragons, currently holding a 13-12 record, are looking to bounce back after splitting their last homestand. They recently defeated William & Mary before suffering a narrow loss to UNCW in a double-overtime thriller. Despite trailing multiple times during the game, Drexel fought back to tie, but ultimately succumbed to a buzzer-beater from the Seahawks.

Leading the charge for the Dragons is junior guard, known as “Deuce,” who averaged 23 points and seven assists last week, earning the Big 5 Player of the Week honors. He showcased his skills most recently by scoring 17 points against UNCW, while another teammate recorded a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds.

Hampton enters the contest with a 12-13 overall record and 4-8 in CAA competition. The Pirates are riding momentum from an impressive 84-75 victory at Northeastern, winning two of their last three games. They find themselves just one game behind Drexel and are eager to climb the standings.

The Pirates are propelled by the scoring of Noah Farrakahn and George Beale Jr., each averaging over 13 points per game. Farrakahn and Beale are also recognized as the team’s primary three-point threats, contributing significantly to their offensive game plan.

The all-time series between Drexel and Hampton has been brief, with only three encounters since Hampton joined the CAA. Last season, the teams met once, with Drexel emerging victorious at home with a commanding score of 99-65. In the two games during the 2022-23 season, each team won on their respective home courts.

Looking ahead, Drexel will wrap up the southern segment of their road trip this Saturday against William & Mary, with the game scheduled to start at 2 p.m.
