DRV PNK Stadium Hosts Exciting Fútbol Showdowns in January
DRV PNK Stadium, home ground of Inter Miami CF, was the place to be this January as it witnessed a series of thrilling international fútbol matchups. The vibrant atmosphere of passionate local fans added to the excitement as various international and club teams showcased their talents.
The month started with an international friendly on January 13th between Iceland and Guatemala. It was a historic moment as the European and Central American nations faced each other for the first time. Forward Ísak Thorvaldsson scored the winning goal in the 79th minute, securing a 1-0 victory for Iceland, who became the first European men’s national team to visit DRV PNK Stadium.
The following day, DRV PNK Stadium hosted a clash between Club Universitario from Peru and Atlético Nacional, a renowned Colombian club. The match was filled with South American passion as both teams gave their all. Edison Flores scored a free kick to put Club Universitario ahead, but Dorlan Pabón equalized just before the first half ended, resulting in a 1-1 draw.
On January 17th, DRV PNK Stadium concluded the month’s thrilling fútbol action with another international matchup between Honduras and Iceland. This was the first-ever meeting between these European and Central American nations. Iceland took the lead in the 48th minute with a penalty kick, and Andri Gudjohnsen sealed the victory with a goal in the second half, leading Iceland to a 2-0 win.
