Duke’s Flagg and Stanford’s Raynaud Shine in ACC Awards

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Duke University freshman Cooper Flagg has been awarded both the ACC Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year for the 2024-25 season, showcasing his immense talent in a dominant season for the Blue Devils. Flagg’s prestigious accolades were announced by the Atlantic Coast Conference on March 10, 2025, following a record-setting year.
Flagg, a Newport, Maine, native, becomes the fourth player in ACC history to achieve both honors in the same season, joining former Duke stars Zion Williamson, Marvin Bagley III, and Jahlil Okafor. The 6-foot-9 guard/forward leads No. 1 Duke in various statistical categories, averaging 602 points, 235 rebounds, 131 assists, 47 steals, and 39 blocks this season.
In addition to Flagg’s accolades, Stanford’s Maxime Raynaud also earned significant recognition as one of five players selected for the All-ACC First Team. The Paris native has made waves throughout the season, being the only player in the nation averaging over 20 points and 10 rebounds per game, and he leads the NCAA with 23 double-doubles.
“To be named among the best in the ACC is a tremendous honor,” Flagg said. “I could not have done this without my teammates and the support of our coaching staff.”
Raynaud, noted for his explosive performance, ranks second in the ACC in scoring with 20.1 points per game and first in rebounding with 10.9 boards per game. He is just 18 rebounds shy of tying the Stanford single-season record, aiming to surpass Adam Keefe’s total from the 1991-92 season.
“Maxime has been a cornerstone for our team this season,” said Stanford coach Kyle Smith. “His ability to perform on both ends of the court is unparalleled, and it’s great to see him receiving the recognition he deserves.”
Flagg led all players in the ACC with a remarkable 2.955 rating in the KenPom Player of the Year Standings, surpassing previous records held by Frank Kaminsky. Flagg scored a high of 42 points against Notre Dame, breaking the Duke freshman single-game scoring record.
Other Duke players also received accolades, with Kon Knueppel and Tyrese Proctor recognized on the All-ACC Second Team and Third Team, respectively. Graduate guard Khaman Maluach made the All-ACC Honorable Mention list.
As for Raynaud, his achievements have solidified his place in Stanford’s history, as he ranks 14th in points and third in rebounds all-time within the program. He has also accumulated significant honors, including nominations for the Wooden Award, Naismith Trophy, and Oscar Robertson Trophy.
As the ACC regular-season champions, the Blue Devils hold a 28-3 overall record and will compete in the quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament on March 13 at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte. Stanford concluded its regular season with a 19-12 record and is looking forward to making a strong push in the upcoming tournaments.
