Duke Football Recruits Maxpreps All America 2025

DURHAM, N.C. – Two of Duke University’s newest football recruits, defensive lineman Davis and linebacker Schaper, have been named to the MaxPreps All-America first team, capping their high school careers with top honors. The announcement comes as Duke football continues to build momentum under its new coaching staff.

Davis, a four-star prospect, recently participated in the 2025 Under Armour Next All-America Game. A standout at Grimsley High School in Greensboro, N.C., Davis led his team to an undefeated 16-0 season and a North Carolina High School Athletic Association 4A state championship. Under head coach Darryl Brown, Davis recorded 125 total tackles, 37 tackles for loss, 27 sacks, five forced fumbles, and eight pass breakups during his senior year.

Schaper, a three-star recruit from Westlake High School in Austin, Texas, also earned first-team recognition. A four-year letterwinner and team captain, Schaper helped lead his team to a state championship in 2021, a runner-up finish in 2024, and semifinal appearances in 2022 and 2023. In his senior season, he tallied 128 tackles, 28 tackles for loss, and 12 sacks. Schaper was previously named the Austin American-Statesman Central Texas Defensive Player of the Year and Texas District 26-6A Defensive MVP.

Duke football, under its new head coach, concluded the 2024 season with a 9-4 record, matching the program’s best debut season performance set by former coach Mike Elko. The Blue Devils are looking to build on this success with the addition of high-caliber recruits like Davis and Schaper.
